How do British schools and leaders plan to maximize the impact of technology on education?
Recently, our education team conducted the most comprehensive survey to date. It gathered insights from 130 senior leaders in all British schools and guardianship.
The result is our Whitepaper, a survey of the 2025 IRIS education leader. This offers a snapshot from the big challenges of this sector, from the budget and sends provisions to recruitment and student numbers.
This report also revealed where the UK School and the leader of trust in finding Edtech solutions.
The area in which technology investment is planned … and why
Before we see where school leaders and trust invest in technology, we need to understand the main drivers behind the decision to do it.
After partnering with 75% UK Multi-Academy Trusts (MATS), we think we know the answer.
In many fields of school and trust management, we see a lack of fundamental time. Admin who does not need to slow down you and prevent you focusing on tasks that make a difference. The data needed to make decisions, from survey of building conditions to student presence and progress, staff absence or use of assets, often incomplete, spread, and out of date when collected. And there are too many obstacles to work together. Too often, there is no simple way to realize something.
Good technology can help schools and trust save time, get a clear view and work better together.
In number: Are school leaders and trust planning to invest in new technology?
We ask the school leader and trust whether they plan to invest in new technology solutions in the next three years. The results under the respondent separately became the leader of the MAT, the leader of the Sat, the Academy Leader in the Mattresses, and LA maintained the school leader.
In a strict budget pressure environment (read further here), there are more school leaders and trust who want to invest in technology than not.
Specifically, 77% of Mat’s leaders said that they plan to invest in new technology over the next three years. In front of him, maybe this reflects MAT leaders who want to invest in a strategic system that crosses schools in their trust.
Educational technology trends in detail
School leaders and trust that indicate that they plan to invest in new technology in the next three years are asked to choose an area where they will prioritize investment.

We saw the ship above. Outside of our graphics, the leaders of the individual academy and LA maintain the school show the greatest interest in sending investments (100% and 72%), perhaps the function of having legs on the field and working closer to students than trust leadership.
We have seen in all of this report the challenges of the school by sending the current supply, and it is interesting that leaders feel that technology can help. There is a role that can be played in assessing, providing support strategies, monitoring and tracking students by sending – and compile evidence to speed up the application process for EHCP.
Beyond Send: Other schools and trust leaders prioritize investment
‘Staff Training and Professional Development Platform’ is the second largest technology investment priority at 51%. Interestingly, this area is a far greater priority for MATE leaders (72%) than school leaders who are maintained by LA (33%).
This may reflect a greater capacity in the MAT system to define the program formally for training and staff development.
In our latest research report, Happy Staff, Happy Purups: new tools and rules to help staff and students develop, we find that 50% of staff surveyed do not have a single online system for performance management, training and career development, so there may be big profits that can be obtained here. Data analysis, student management information systems (MIS), compliance and estate management, and recruitment and onboarding are all chosen as priority fields with about a quarter of school leaders and trust, showing sufficient divisions even in all fields of other potential technology investment.
