Google Maps now works better than ever within the Gemini app

Google has long started incorporating Gemini AI into its apps and services to make things easier for users. Alternatively, you can also use the Gemini app to access many of its services without leaving the app. And with Google removing the requirement to type commands in October this year, accessing the service has become even easier within the Gemini app.

The change impacts all services accessible within the Gemini application. But now, Google has paid extra attention to Google Maps within the Gemini app, and that means you get better navigation results. An update has been rolled out to the Gemini app to introduce Google Maps improvements in the Gemini app.

What’s new in Google Maps inside the Gemini app

As reported by 9to5Google, Google Maps within the Gemini application now displays more comprehensive results when you type commands. Previously, search results displayed lines of text, followed by a map display with the locations found by Gemini. As in the Google Maps application, the map display shows pins to pinpoint the location found.

Those visuals are now a thing of the past, as the updated Gemini app now displays information in a richer visual format. For example, instead of pins, the map view now displays emoji-style pins that match the place. For example, it will display deciduous trees to indicate a garden. It’s much better than red pins to recognize each place.

Locations will also display a card showing a picture of the place, a star rating, followed by information about the place. You’ll also get review summaries, summaries of what people are talking about most, and tips from reviewers. Overall, you will now get almost all the information you need to decide which place is more suitable for you.

Another small change is that, when you enter a command in the Gemini app, the map view appears first, then the text. This change makes a lot of sense, as the main purpose is to view maps. The text is useful for supporting information only.
